Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim

The Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim celebrates it's 60th  anniversary and remains one of the most popular long distance swims in the United States.  In 2022, 1164 swimmers completed this grueling two-mile course.  Swimmers enter the water on the south side of the 10th Street Lifeguard Tower (South of the Hermosa Beach Pier).  They swim round the Pier, parallel to shore then round the Manhattan Beach Pier and finish on the beach.

Any contestant who did not complete the 2022 Pier-to-Pier swim must register for the swim on-line and then pass a 500-meter “check out” swim.  Swim “check outs” will be held at the Hermosa Beach Pier on July 15th, 22nd, and 23rd, 2023 from 9am – 11am.  Decisions of Lifeguards at “check out” are final.  

2022 Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim finishers are exempt from “check out”.  The swim will again be conducted in 3 heats. The first heat, male swimsuit, will start at 9:00 am. The second heat, female swimsuit & wetsuit, will start at 9:05 am. The third heat, male wetsuit, will start at 9:10 am.

In order to streamline the pre-race check-in process, swimmers may pick up their race packet (swim cap, wristband, timing chip, etc.) the day before the race (Saturday August 5th) between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm.  The packet pick-up location is at 2600 Strand in Manhattan Beach.    Swimmers who are unable to check in on Saturday the 5th may still do so the morning of the race at the race site between 7:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.  Early arrival is strongly recommended as parking is extremely limited.  

Registration for all swimmers must be done on-line through the registration link above. The registration fee for the swim is $50.00 from April 1st through April 30th, $55 from May 1 through June 30.  The registration fee is $65.00 from July 1st until registration closes at midnight on July 23rd.  No refunds, substitutes, or race day entries will be allowed.
