Learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP lessons at JM SUP, an ASI accredited learn to stand up paddle school. Located one and a half hours drive from Brisbane on the Southern end of the Gold Coast, Currumbin is the perfect day trip.
JM SUP is owned and operated by Justin Mitchell. He is a highly experienced waterman, stand up paddler and triathlete.
Justin has been a SUP school instructor since 2009, with one of the first dedicated SUP schools established in Australia. He is experienced in paddling downwind and distance races of 50km (30 miles) and has advanced SUP surfing skills in surf up to 15ft. He has travelled the world paddling and also lived in the USA for a number of years.
He grew up in the ocean and was involved in surf lifesaving from a young age. From 15 years of age he was a professional triathlete. He is also a prone paddler and has competed in and won four paddleboarding championships in the USA, including a fourth place in the Moloka’i World Championships.
Justin is an ASI Level 5 SUP Instructor, qualified to train in environments from Enclosed Flat Water to Advanced Surf. He also holds ASI SUP Instructor Water Safety Rescue Award (Flat Water & Surf) as well as SUP Fitness Level 1 and 2.
He is assisted in the SUP School by ASI accredited SUP instructors also holding rescue and first aid qualifications.
JM SUP is an ASI Instructor Training Centre and Justin Mitchell is authorised to train ASI SUP Instructors.
JM SUP offers group and private SUP lessons, certificate courses, SUP tours and fitness workouts for kids, adults, parties, school groups, backpackers, universities and corporates. They also have a SUP Shop so you can purchase boards and gear. You can also come and try before you buy.
Lessons are held in the flat, calm waters of Currumbin River at Palm Beach - an unbeatable paddling environment. It’s the ideal environment to de-stress or get fit. Lessons are also held in Tweed Heads, NSW at Seagulls, Tweed River.
