Stand Up Paddle Australia is owned and operated by Mark Mitchell. He has an adventure sports background. After trying stand up paddle, he was hooked. Mark also regularly competes from in SUP events from flat water, to distance downwind racing. He started the school to share his SUP passion and enthusiasm for this great and rapidly growing sport with others so they too can feel the SUP stoke !
Mark holds an ASI Level 3 Stand Up Paddle accreditation for instructing in enclosed water, exposed waters and beginner surf locations. He is assisted in the SUP school by team of experienced and accredited SUP instructors.
Stand Up Paddle Australia / SUP Gear Australia offers group and private lessons for kids, adults, parties, school groups and corporate and family groups.
Lessons are conducted in the southern corner of Balmoral Beach. It’s a protected area, with smooth calm waters, a white beach, grass all the way up to the sand and set against a natural backdrop of vegetation and some of the most expensive houses in Sydney.
It’s an ideal location supping to learn and also progress your supping skills - with amazing views over Sydney Harbour National Park and through "the Heads" - the gateway to Sydney Harbour.
It’s also a great family location, with cafes and change rooms close to the water.
Stand Up Paddle Australia / SUP Gear Australia has a shop stocking a large range of high quality SUP boards available for you to try. From beginner flat water to race boards, with high quality performance paddles, you can be sure of finding the right board and paddle to suit you. Special packages are available if you decide to purchase gear.
The school also offers lessons at Narrabeen Lakes.
