The SUP Connection

Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
I worked in the SUP community for 4 years in San Diego and now have started helping out at the SUP Connection. Our goal is to work on community events for the area and get people involved and having a good time on the water. We also do more informal meetups, as well as coordinate races with other organizations, team building and corporate events. 

What about your experience with paddling?
(Maile) I do love to paddle, my main sport is outrigger. I paddled and competed with crews in Los Angeles out of Mothers Beach and here in San Diego

Tell us a bit more about your business and the surrounding area?
Liberty station, is our launch. From there you can paddle to the ocean or take in the great views of downtown San Diego and the surrounding harbor. 

Do you have any signature services or paddle activities?
Were focusing on rentals and being a main resource for people in the area. We demo race boards , that being said west coast paddles sports can demo you for $55 a day.

What is the best season to come check you out?
Summer is the busiest but we are available for board rentals during all seasons. 

Any key local attractions for paddlers to check out?
Most people who paddle come out of Mission Bay. There are islands you can check and ocean access if you really want to get out there. 

Any cool or interesting activities after a paddle?
Where were located there are a bunch of tourist attractions around us. There is Liberty Station proper with museums, parks, restaurants, and bars.

Best places to stay?
Best places to stay would be Airbnb, Marriott and Hilton. Budget friendly best Western and Holiday Inn nearby. Thriving area. 

What excites you most about working with the SUP Connection in 2020
We’re psyched to make some connections with local businesses, sunset paddles during the summer. Monthly raffles. Best places to check are west coast paddles on instagram and link all are partners!
