Tue Conditioned Hikers: Encinal to Latigo Canyon

This is a strenuous out-and-back hike of 14 miles, 2000 gain hike on the Backbone Trail (BBT #6) between Encinal and Latigo Canyons traversing through Newton, Zuma, and Trancas Canyons. We will meet at 8:00 AM at the Backbone Trail at Encinal Canyon Trailhead. From PCH go 6 miles north on Kanan Dume Road to Mulholland Highway then west 3 miles on Encinal Canyon Road to parking lot on north side of road just west of Fire Camp #13. This is a back country outing; medical form required. Bring: Bring water, lunch, hiking boots/shoes, hat.

Additional Directions: In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test. Leaders will provide participants with their contact information. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.
