Tue Conditioned Hikers: Mishe Mokwa to La Jolla Canyon
This is a strenuous one-way shuttle hike of 17 miles, 2100 gain hike on the Backbone Trail (BBT #8) including Mishe Mokwa, Chamberlin, Blue Canyon, Wood Canyon, and Ray Miller segments stopping at both Chamberlin Memorial and Danielson Ranch before finishing at the La Jolla Campground. We will meet initially at 8:00 AM outside the La Jolla Campground on PCH just south of the entrance (Ray Miller Trailhead). From PCH, the La Jolla Campground Parking Area is 4.9 miles northwest of Yerba Buena Road (Neptune's Net); or 4.2 miles southeast of Las Posas Road. Go past the yellow gate into the parking area or park for free along the shoulder (on the east side of PCH). We will car shuttle 17 miles up the long and winding Yerba Buena to the Mishe Mokwa trailhead. This is a back country outing; medical form required. Bring: Bring water, lunch, hiking boots/shoes, hat.
Additional Directions: In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test. Leaders will provide participants with their contact information. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.
