Tue Conditioned Hikers: Newton Canyon, Castro Peak Mtwy, Bulldog

This will be a Strenuous 14 mi, 2500' gain hike on the BBT east of Kanan Dume Rd. We will hike east on the BBT to where it meets the Castro Peak Mtwy and then continue west up to the top of the Bulldog. Meet 8:00 at the Newton Canyon TH. (PCH 5.9 miles west of Malibu Canyon Road then north 4 1/2 miles on Kanan Dume Rd on the inland side of the first tunnel, or 8 miles south of US 101 just before the third tunnel.) This is a back country outing; medical form required. Bring: Lunch. water, hiking shoes/boots, sun screen.

Additional Directions: In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test. Leaders will provide participants with their contact information. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.
