Tue Conditioned Hikers: Piuma to Saddle Peak

Strenuous 14 miles, 3300 gain hike along the Backbone Trail from Malibu Canyon/Las Virgenes to lunch on Saddle Peak and return. Meet at the corner of Malibu Canyon/Las Virgenes and Piuma Road. (101 to Las Virgenes Road, south 4.9 miles, or PCH to Malibu Canyon Road, north 4.7 miles). Park at either Tapia or Little Tapia and pay. It appears that free parking may no longer be available in dirt lot at the southeast corner of Malibu Canyon/Las Virgenes and Piuma Road. This is a back country outing; medical form required. Bring: Bring water, lunch, hiking shoes/boots, hat and sun screen.

Additional Directions: In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test. Leaders will provide participants with their contact information. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.
