Tue Moderate Hikers/Tapia Spur Trail to Malibu Creek State Park

Moderate 8.7 hike with 1054 altitude gain. This will be a lollipop hike through Coastal live oaks in Tapia Park that winds through Malibu Creek State Park using the Chaparral, Lookout, and Cage trails. There is enough elevation to get your heart rate up but enough flat to make this a moderate hike. Meet 8:30 am Pacific Palisades rideshare point (first parking lot on the right on Los Liones after turning on Sunset) or 9:00 a.m. at the dirt parking lot at the southeast corner of Piuma Road and Malibu Canyon Road. Directions: From PCH turn right on Malibu Canyon and drive 6.6 miles to the corner of Piuma Road and Malibu Canyon Road (there will be a traffic light). Dirt Parking lot is on the right. From the 101, take the Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road Exit going south toward the ocean. Drive 5 miles to the stoplight at Piuma Road. Turn Left and than an immediate Right into the dirt parking lot. This is a back country hike: medical form required. Bring: Bring at least 2 quarts of water and lunch. Lug sole hiking shoes are a must for this trail which is steep and rocky in places.

The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.
