Learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP yoga lessons at SUP Always-At-Aum, an ASI accredited learn to stand up paddle school, located in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York.
Always at Aum Yoga School is owned by Robin Appel with the SUP Yoga delivered by Rita-Marie Murphy.
Rita-Marie Murphy brought SUP Yoga to our community and it was instantly contagious! When it comes to SUP Yoga, Rita-Marie is enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate about SUP Yoga. She is an ASI Level 2 Exposed Waters SUP Instructor, holding rescue and first aid qualifications as well as holding Yoga teacher training qualifications.
SUP Yoga appealed to Rita-Marie because it merged her love of nature, yoga, and the sea. She was inspired by what she saw developing in the yoga world and SUP Yoga was an innovative approach to an ancient practice where the board being your mat forces the student to remain present, in the moment, and develop a greater sense of mindfulness that is not as easily attainable in a gym or a studio.
She found practicing in nature to be both invigorating and enriching while inspiring her to become more ecologically mindful and responsible.
Together Rita-Marie Murphy and the Always-At-Aum Yoga School have created a safe, professional learning environment where we train yoga instructors on how to take their yoga teaching to SUP in a responsible way.
Always at SUM offers SUP Yoga Classes, SUP Yoga Workshops, and SUP Tours for yoga students that want to bring their practice onto the water. Athletes that want to try something new and Nature enthusiasts that love to do anything outdoors and yoga instructors that want to become SUP Yoga instructors.
SUP Yoga sessions are held at Smith's Point Landing, Rugby Lane, Shirley, and Connetquot River, Oakdale, NY.
Connetquot River is a flat and enclosed, freshwater river with outlets to Nichols Bay and the Great South Bay. This offers many options for various levels of SUP instruction as there are outlets to open water bays. Additionally, the river is surrounded by beautiful natural wildlife preserves, Heckscher State Park, and the Bayard Cutting Arboretum.
