To many Amelia Island is a unique and somewhat secret gem along the Atlantic coast of northern Florida. The island has a long and rich history being ruled under 8 different flags including France, Spain and yes, a pirate. Albeit small in size, the island is surprisingly diverse and contains an abundance of wildlife, historic landmarks, uncrowded beaches and scenic vistas.Amelia Island is truly as SUP destination. With a variety of paddling options you can explore something new each time you paddle during your stay. Being on an island you can paddle in the morning glow of sunrise and then head over for a sunset paddle on the west side of the island, With a historic downtown and port you can paddle with more of an urban vibe. Looking for more solitude, you can explore the many meandering marsh creeks or our fan favorite, black water creek. For the more advanced, paddle from Amelia Island to Cumberland Island to get up close to wild horses. If the wind is blowing you can do a 13 mile downwinder from one end of the island to the other. If there is swell in the water, enjoy paddle surfing at one of the many beach accesses. Either way you won't be disappointed paddling here on Amelia Island.
